Power Plant Maintenance
Power plant maintenance – broadly defined as maintenance (repair and servicing) – is vital for minimizing downtime, extending the service life of the plant and ensuring operational safety. The process is divided into four key areas: inspection, servicing, repair and improvement.
- Inspection: Assessing the current condition through measurements and tests to detect damage at an early stage. Thermography, ultrasonic testing and 3D LiDAR scanning help to detect cracks, corrosion or leaks at an early stage.
- Maintenance: Preventive measures such as cleaning, lubrication, adjustment and the replacement of wear parts (e.g. filters, seals or oils) to delay wear and tear.
- Repair: Professional rectification of defects to restore functionality following a breakdown or damage.
- Improvement: Technical upgrades (retrofit) or performance enhancements to increase the plant’s efficiency beyond its original state.
Together with our partner companies, we offer the following comprehensive maintenance services, depending on the type of power station (e.g. hydroelectric or thermal power stations):
- Overhauls: Major inspections during which plant components such as turbines and generators are often completely dismantled.
- Rotating equipment: Machining and repair of steam, water and wind turbines, as well as compressors and feedwater pumps.
- Electrical components: Maintenance of generators, rotor and stator units, and generator leads.
